Social Impact Bonds

Social Impact Bonds are a financial tool being developed in the UK (by the Young Foundation) to provide a new way to invest money in social outcomes. They are part of a family of new financing devices aiming to capitalise social value, and provide better incentives for public agencies to make preventative investments. They were endorsed in a government white paper in December 2009.
